COBALT COLLEGE ADVISORY PROGRAM

The college recruiting landscape is more competitive and more complex than ever before. New NCAA rules, evolving roster management, the transfer portal, scholarship changes, and shifting recruiting timelines have transformed the process for student-athletes and their families.

The Cobalt College Advisory Program exists to educate, prepare, and empower families to confidently navigate that landscape.

Our philosophy is simple: the most successful recruiting journeys happen when athletes take ownership of the process, families become informed partners, and everyone understands how college recruiting truly works.

Rather than promising scholarships or commitments, we provide the education, tools, and guidance that allow student-athletes to make informed decisions, communicate effectively with college coaches, and maximize their opportunities.

OUR APPROACH

Recruiting is not something that happens to a player—it is something a player actively manages.

We believe every student-athlete should understand:

  • How the recruiting process works
  • What coaches are looking for
  • When to communicate with college programs
  • How to build a realistic college list
  • How to market themselves appropriately
  • How to evaluate opportunities beyond athletics

Our role is to educate families so they can confidently navigate every step of the journey.

SHARED RESPONSIBILITY

Successful recruiting requires commitment from everyone involved.

The Cobalt College Advisory Program provides education, guidance, resources, and opportunities. Student-athletes are responsible for their preparation, communication, and performance. Families play a critical role by staying informed, supporting the process, and encouraging their athlete to take ownership of their recruiting journey.

When players, families, and advisors work together, the recruiting process becomes more organized, more intentional, and far less overwhelming.

THE CAP MISSION

Our mission is to equip Cobalt partner clubs student-athletes and their families with the knowledge, confidence, and resources needed to navigate the college recruiting process with purpose. Through education, workshops, advising, and high-quality recruiting events, we help families understand the ever-changing recruiting landscape so every athlete has the opportunity to pursue the college experience that best fits their academic, athletic, and personal goals

RECRUITING EDUCATION

Education is the foundation of the Cobalt College Advisory Program.

Throughout the year, we host live workshops and educational sessions covering topics including:

  • Understanding today's college recruiting landscape
  • NCAA, Division II, Division III, NAIA, and Junior College pathways
  • Recruiting timelines and key milestones
  • Building a recruiting strategy
  • Communicating with college coaches
  • Creating effective highlight videos
  • Campus visits and ID camps
  • Academic planning and eligibility
  • Scholarships and financial aid
  • Preparing for showcases and recruiting events
  • What families should expect throughout the process

Our goal is to provide families with practical knowledge they can immediately apply throughout their recruiting journey.

COLLEGE ID CAMPS & SHOWCASE EVENTS

Learning is only one part of the process. Athletes also need opportunities to apply what they've learned.

Cobalt hosts College ID Camps and Showcase Events that provide student-athletes with meaningful exposure while allowing them to experience the college recruiting environment firsthand.

These events allow players to:

  • Train with college coaches
  • Compete in front of college programs
  • Receive valuable feedback
  • Learn directly from coaches about the recruiting process
  • Build relationships with collegiate programs

Each event is designed to complement the educational resources we provide, helping athletes better understand how to prepare for and succeed in recruiting environments.
